A dog owner whose pet was injured by another hound in a popular park is urging other owners to take care.
Sylvia Ryan's 11-year-old springer spaniel Chloe was bitten by a sheepdog in Nonsuch Park last month.
Now she wants other pet owners to make sure they are careful if they see the animal, which she believes is dangerous.
The attack, which happened when a dog walker was taking Chloe out for exercise, left the animal with cuts and has made it frightened of other dogs.
Mrs Ryan said: "I'm concerned that the dog should be muzzled when it's out for a walk. Apparently the owner did come over after the incident and apologised but at that stage it wasn't obvious how badly she had been hurt.
"She had a cut about two inches long but it was under her belly where it could not be seen at the time. It was only when it started to bleed that anyone realised how bad it was.
"I frequently walk the dog down there with my grandson in a pushchair - what concerns me most is what would happen if this dog attacked a child."
The animal which attacked Chloe is a border collie-style dog which is thought to be a rehomed sheepdog.
