A West Molesey teenager will perform for a place in the national final of a new singing competition next month.

Rebecca Lacey, 15, of Weldon Drive, will take to the stage to sing live in the TeenStar regional final on Sunday, April 14, at Ferneham Hall in Hampshire, following her successful audition at the same venue.

Rebecca – a member of the Promenade Youth Choir based in Hersham – will go head-to-head against the best talent in the area and is just one step away from appearing in the national final at the O2 later this year.

The year 10 pupil of Heathside School in Weybridge is no stranger to singing, having performed at many local events, including last year’s Walton Heritage Day and Molesey Carnival.

Rebecca is one of thousands of hopefuls that entered the competition, which is searching for the UK’s best teen and pre-teen singers, rappers and vocalists of all genres.

Rebecca’s mother, Karen Lacey said: “We are delighted that Rebecca has made it through to the regional final of TeenStar. She is very keen to impress the judges and audience and has been practising her performance in her music room.

“It will be stiff competition but great experience for Rebecca to perform on stage in front of a live audience and with other young talent with the same passion.”
