Brooklands College Motorsport team overcame greasy conditions to win the opening event of the 2013 MSV Team Trophy Race series.

A student race team, supported by technical staff, spent several weeks preparing the colleges 1.4l Ford Fiesta, driven to victory in the class D race at Snetterton Circuit, Norfolk, on Saturday, March 16, by assistant head of technology Jonathan Nicholls and private driver Rupert Hinde.

Students Sahil Varma, Loutfi Menasri, Daniel Whitby, David Guilfoyle, Danielle Farnfield and Simon Robotham and technical staff Alex Bukelman, James Rutterford, and David West were fine-tuning the car in preparation for the afternoon race from 7.30am.

The team’s efforts were rewarded as the drivers were able to shave four seconds off their early practice time to qualify for the one-hour endurance race in first place.

Driver Jonathan said: “These were some of the toughest weather conditions the team have had to work in.

“It was a very long day for all of them but they performed fantastically as a team and utterly deserved to come away with a winner’s trophy, great work by all of them.”

The next event for the team is at Donnington Park on Sunday, April 28.
