A man from New Addington has been arrested on suspicion of cyber crime.
The 28-year-old from New Addington, was arrested in the early hours of this morning by officers from the Met's Police Central e-Crime unit and the Serious Organised Crime Agency's cyber unit.
His computer and electronic equipment were seized from his home and he was taken to a south London police station.
The arrest is understood to be in connection with an internet banking scam.
A police spokesman said: "This arrest is in connection with an ongoing operation investigating the distribution of malware designed to infect computers via the internet and then capture the user's personal details to facilitate fraudulent transactions."
New legislation is expected to be passed later this year which will see the setting up of a single National Cyber Crime Unit as part of the new National Crime Agency.
