A unique collection of artists’ books from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) will go on display on Monday, April 8.
The exhibition of the books at Epsom Library, which are "closer to pieces of fine art than literature and demonstrate unusual forms of narrative and graphic expression", will give visitors a chance to explore the rare art form up-close.
In particular, it will feature the Four Corners Books edition of Dracula, with its yellow clothbound cover and newspaper cuttings to reinforce the different layers of storytelling.
There will also be a talk by UCA graphic design lecturer Mike Nicholson, an illustrator, storyboard artist and writer, who will explain the origins and concepts behind the work on April 25.
Rebekah Taylor, UCA library archivist, said: "We are delighted to bring our collection to Epsom Library so the public can enjoy their depth and breadth.
"Artists’ books are a hidden gem in the art-world."
Anne Parkhouse, assistant manager of the library, added: "We see this as the next step in an ongoing collaboration with UCA Epsom in which we hope to inspire and interest our regular users, as well as attracting new visitors to the library."
The exhibition will run until May 7.
A limited number of tickets are still available for Mr Nicholson’s free talk. To book a ticket visit www.surreycc.gov.uk/epsomlibrary and click on Events and Activities.
