Vicky McClure says the cast of 'Broadchurch' weren't told the murderer's identity until the end of filming.

The ITV detective drama has seem a number of people in the spotlight as the potential murderer of schoolboy Danny Latimer, but Vicky - who plays journalist Karen White - thinks people will still be shocked when they find the identity of the real killer.

She told the Sunday People newspaper: "We didn't know until the end of the shoot. We filmed it not knowing, which was great because it added to the tension on set.

"When we did find out it was a big surprise. I think people are going to be shocked when it is revealed, "Every day I get asked who the killer is - but I'm never going to say."

The show has been a huge hit with audiences, regularly winning over six million viewers.

Show star and former 'Doctor Who' actor David Tennant has also been getting plenty of attention from his fans, and co-star Olivia Colman had to step in to ensure his safety on one occasion.

She said recently: "Working with David is heaven. But he gets crowds of people wherever he goes. He is terribly patient and charming and lovely with them, so I'm afraid I got a little bit defensive on his behalf.

"He was trying to put a microphone down through his shirt and down through his trousers. He was rummaging around there and this woman just took a photo right in front of his face while he was doing it. He was trying to be charming, but he had his hands down his pants. I stood in front of him, put my arm out and said, 'No!' She was a bit surprised at the reaction. I don't think they were expecting him to have protection."
