Students from secondary schools across Wandsworth will be taking part in a dance extravaganza on Friday.

Young dancers aged 11-16 from schools across the borough will take part in the ‘Step into Dance’ event hosted by Ashcroft Technology Academy in Putney.

Students trained by ‘Step into Dance’ teachers are competing for a place at 'Step LIVE! 2013', taking place on 14 July.

Some 200 schools in London and Essex take part in the Step into Dance programme every year, which is a collaboration between the Royal Academy of Dance and The Jack Petchey Foundation.

Sue Goodman, artistic director at Step into Dance said: "We really look forward to our Step into Dance Borough Events every year. It is a time when our students get the opportunity to shine and share their enthusiasm and love of dance with us all."

Selected dancers may be given the opportunity to audition for a place in the Step into Dance youth company which performs at some of London’s most renowned dance venues.
