A teenage pedestrian has been seriously injured in a motorbike crash.

An 18-year-old woman was rushed to hospital for treatment after suffering head injuries in the collision, which happened in Coombe Road shortly before 9am.

The motorbike's rider, an 18-year-old man, suffered minor shoulder injuries.

It is not clear whether the motorbike struck the pedestrian.

A spokeswoman for London Ambulance Service said paramedics took the woman as a priority to the severe trauma unit at St George's Hospital in Tooting.

The 18-year-old man was treated at Croydon University Hospital after complaining of shoulder pain.

The spokeswoman said: "We were called at 8.53am to reports of a collision at Lloyd Park Avenue. We sent a single responder in a car and two ambulance crews.

"A girl aged 18 suffered head injuries and taken to St George's Hospital major trauma unit to treatment. She was conscious and breathing."

Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police closed Coombe Road for three hours after the crash, but it has now reopened.
