A home swapping event took place to help tenants downsize and avoid bedroom tax.
Dozens of people took part in the event held by housing association Viridian in Balham Library, Ramsden Road, on Thursday.
The event invited people living in over occupied or under occupied properties to get advice and find suitable accommodation.
Viridian joined forces with other associations to provide information on the variety of houses to choose from in the area.
Lettings officers, benefit advisers and volunteers from charity StepChange were on hand to give advice on budgeting.
Zillah Scott-Davis, regional housing manager, said: "An event like this provides residents with the opportunity to get the advice that they need and find a property that suits their current household needs."
The Government's spare bedroom levy, dubbed by critics as the 'bedroom tax', introduced on April 1, cuts housing benefits of tenants living in social housing by 14 per cent if they have one spare bedroom, and 25 per cent if they have two.
