Eden Street will have to be closed again as extensive repairs get underway on two more broken sewer systems.
The road was closed for over a week in February after a collapsed sewer was discovered.
A Thames Water spokesman said the road may be closed again for a week from Wednesday night.
Piers Kemp, from Banquet Records, said: “It did not really affect us last time that much.
"It was kind of nice because we did not have busses going up and down the road that much.
"It doesn’t really reduce footfall. The only thing it really does is create large traffic jams.”
Contractors believe the damaged sewers run below the entrance to the Neville House car park.
They expect the delivery yard on Eden Walk will have to be closed.
They have pledged to try and maintain delivery access from at least one end of Eden Road while repairs are carried out.
The council and Thames Water will be running against the clock to try and repair the sewers before resurfacing is due to begin on Eden Street on May 13.
They aim to begin work tomorrow night.
