Richard Madden will play Prince Charming in Disney's 'Cinderella'.
The actor - best known for his role as Robb Stark in hit fantasy drama 'Game of Thrones' - has landed the lead male role in director Kenneth Branagh's live action adaptation of the classic fairytale.
The Scottish star's previous on-screen credits include drama 'Chatroom', which starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Channel 4's short-lived 'Sirens' and Eddie Redmayne-led TV drama 'Birdsong'.
'Downton Abbey' actress Lily James will play Cinderella to Madden's Prince Charming, after beating out competition from dozens of actresses to land the lead role.
Meanwhile, Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett is set to play Cinderella's wicked stepmother in the new adaptation.
Disney's live action take on 'Cinderella' was spurred by the recent success of other fairytale movies including 2010's 'Alice in Wonderland', which featured Johnny Depp and grossed over $1 billion, and the recently released 'Oz the Great and Powerful', which starred James Franco as the titular wizard.
'The Devil Wears Prada' writer Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the initial draft of the script.
The film is expected to begin production this year for release in 2014.
