PR guru and publicist to the stars Max Clifford has pleaded not guilty to 11 charges of indecent assault.

The 70-year-old, from Onslow Road, Hersham, is accused of charges relating to seven different women and girls aged from 14 to 19 between 1966 and 1985.

Mr Clifford entered not guilty pleas to all counts when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 28.

Speaking outside court, he said: “I’m totally innocent of these allegations and the nightmare continues.

“All I know is up until the Jimmy Savile situation no one ever said anything about me at all.

“This is a nightmare for myself and my family and has been since December when I was arrested in a very public way.

“What I’ve got to do now is to prove that these allegations are totally without foundation, which I know they are.”

He was arrested in December under the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Yewtree - set up following revelations about serial paedophile Jimmy Savile and split into three strands. Mr Clifford's arrest was not part of the Savile strand.

Mr Clifford has been bailed and must live at his Hersham home, is not allowed to contact prosecution witnesses and is next due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on June 12.

The police listed the charges as:

  1. Indecent assault on woman over 16 years of age (1980/1981)
