Stormtroopers and Darth Vader were present for the fete and dog show at Princess Alice Hospice.

However the characters from Star Wars were not there to cause trouble, they were costumed members of the UK Garrison happy to pose for photographs with punters on Sunday, June 9.

The event, hosted by the hospice’s community fundraising team and the Friends of Princess Alice Hospice, also included the fifth running of the popular dog show, with 100 dogs competing in classes including best veteran, musical sits and dog most like its owner.

Further entertainment on the day was provided by local choirs, school music groups and a martial arts display while there was an array of shopping stalls and a dedicated arts and crafts area.

The deputy mayor of Elmbridge Councillor Barry Fairbank and the mayor of Kingston Councillor Penny Shelton also attended the fete in Esher and plenty of local businesses provided support.

More than £2,000 was raised from entry fees alone and the fundraising team said they were hopeful of exceeding last year’s total.
