A shed fire spread to sheds in four properties in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were called to Queen Mary Road, Upper Norwood, at 1.20am to reports of a shed fire.

When the crew from West Norwood fire station arrived, they found the blaze had spread to sheds in three other properties, including the neighbouring property and two properties that back on to the garden in Moore Road.

Watch Manager Sally Coxon said: "The fire was right at the back of the garden and is believed to have been cause because someone had a barbecue and had not put it out properly, the coals were still warm.

"About 10 percent of the shed in the garden where the fire started was damaged in the blaze and the shed in the neighbouring property was 100 damaged.

"The fence panels and sheds at the back of the two properties in Moore Road each suffered about 10 percent damage."

The crew remained at the scene for about an hour putting out the fire, before waking the owners of the properties to inform them of the blaze.

No-one was injured in the incident.
