The co-founder of Transition Towns is coming to Crystal Palace for a book launch next week.

Rob Hopkins is speaking at the Grape and Grain Pub on June 18 from 7.30pm to launch his book The Power of Just Doing Stuff.

There are more than 1,000 Transition Town initiatives throughout the world and they involve getting the community to do more projects together.

The Crystal Palace Transition Town team have a number of projects running including a weekly farmers market and a community garden where people grow vegetables.

Hopkins is the winner of the 2009 Observer Ethical Award for the Grassroots Campaigner category, and in December 2009 was voted the Guardian’s 'Green Community Hero'.

Co-chair of Crystal Palace Transition Town Joe Duggan said: “We are particularly pleased that Crystal Palace Transition Town is mentioned and are honoured that Rob Hopkins has chosen to visit us to see Crystal Palace Transition Town projects first hand and to launch his book here.

“Everyone is very welcome to attend. Rob Hopkins will speak about his new book and the latest thinking in the Transition Movement, illustrated with real examples of Transition Towns in action. Turn up early for a seat.”
