A man has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing a Clapham teenager to death at a nightclub in Reading.

Jerome Small, from Reading, denied murdering Jordan Malutshi, 17, from Clapham, during an attack in Reading's Face Bar nightclub on July 1, 2012.

Mr Malutshi was rushed to hospital after being stabbed once in the chest but the blow pierced the left ventricle of the heart and he died within hours.

Today 32-year-old Small was found guilty of murder following a trial at Reading Crown Court and was told he would serve a minimum of 24 years in prison.

In a statement, his the victim's family said Jordan was "a very friendly, sociable and outspoken young man" who loved reading, playing football and computer games.

The trial heard both Small and the vitim were seen entering the club but witness accounts suggested the pair had been seen arguing.

It was said Mr Small was seen leaving the club about 15 minutes after stabbing Mr Small and returned to Face Bar wearing different clothing.

Police records confirmed Mr Small fled the scene after the incident but handed himself in at Reading police station the next day.
