A Baptist minister was among those who rode through London under starlit skies to raise money for Princess Alice Hospice.

Richard Littledale, 48, minister at Teddington Baptist Church, raised more than £3,000 - three times his initial target - by cycling the 100km through the streets of the capital.

Mr Littledale said: “The cycle was amazing, I am so happy to have been part of a wonderful event and to have taken the opportunity to do something for an important local charity.

“There are so many highlights from the event, the city was so beautiful. Seeing St Paul’s Cathedral bathed in floodlight as we sped round a corner was amazing.”

Mr Littledale completed the challenge in six hours and 30 minutes and managed to continue his media promotion of his challenge with a live BBC interview at Crystal Palace.

The group who completed the Nightrider challenge also included Tim Green, community fundraiser at the hospice, who completed the ride in six hours and 10 minutes.
