BBQ season is almost upon us and burger lovers could win £2,000 by sharing their recipes with Croydon pop star JB Gill.

Jonathan "JB" Gill of JLS has launched the ultimate 'Battle of the Burgers' and is searching the nation for the best regional homemade burger recipe.

Entries could be inspired by their local cuisine or simply be a fusion of their favourite foods.

The recipes entered will be judged and shortlisted by a panel of burger connoisseurs and the finalists will be invited to attend a cook-off in London, which will be judged by Croydon's JB and his burger devotees.

As well as winning Battle of the Burgers, the winner will also receive a £2,000 cash prize.

The competition forms part of a campaign with Simply beef and lamb and Red Tractor to encourage the public to make homemade burgers rather than buying them from the shop.

JB said: "Everyone loves a burger. They are a mealtime favourite but people don’t realise how simple it is to make burgers from scratch instead of buying them from the shop.

"Homemade burgers are much tastier and as you know what is going into your burger you have peace of mind."
