For the sixth year running residents poked fun at Merton Council’s inaction over an infamous unfinished bridge by holding an unfinished party.
The Colliers Wood Residents Association (CWRA) celebrated the sixth birthday of the ‘bridge to nowhere’ in the Wandle Meadow Nature Park in Colliers Wood on Thursday, June 20.
As always, the party featured unfinished cake, poetry and songs, but could be the last after the council confirmed it had secured funding to finish the bridge in May.
Keith Spears, chairman of the CWRA said: "It was good to see so many concerned local residents at what has become our annual party, however let us hope the next one will be for The Finished Bridge." Work is expected to start in November for completion in Spring 2014.
