Eight recycling bins have been stolen from Carshalton South and Clockhouse.
Police are appealing for witnesses after eight green metal wheelie bins were stolen from The Mount, Grove Lane, sometime between 18-20 June.
Thieves have created a nuisance by stealing recycling bins
It is thought a large vehicle would have been required to steal the bins and they may have been stolen for their scrap metal value.
Councillor Moira Butt contacted the council as soon as she found out and they have temporarily borrowed four bins from the Wallington Public House to cover the loss.
Councillor Jill Whitehead, chair of the environment and neighbourhood committee said the theft is a real problem for the community.
She added: “Replacements were organised as soon as we became aware of the theft and are expected by Monday morning. While this may not seem like a major issue it does mean that money - that could be better spent elsewhere – has to go on replacing them.
"I’d ask that anyone who does have information about the thefts contacts us and the police so we can avoid similar situations happening in the future.”
