Shoppers and businesses in the town centre are set to benefit from a new reward scheme being introduced this summer.

The Check Out Croydon Loyalty Scheme, which is being rolled out by the Croydon Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID), aims to attract new customers into Croydon which will in turn boost trade in the area.

A wide range of shops, bars, restaurants, clubs and pubs across the town centre have signed up to the scheme which will see businesses offer shoppers a host of different offers and discounts.

The card will be available to anyone who visits the borough and every time they use the card it will be scanned so they can take advantage of any offers available to them.

Businesses will be able to keep track witch which offers are proving most popular amongst customers.

Matthew Sims, chief executive of Croydon BID, said with Hammerson and Westfield due to begin work on the Whitgift Centre, it is important to encourage footfall to the town centre.

Mr Sims said they aim to have 40 businesses signed up to the scheme. Well known organisations such as McDonalds, Tiger Tiger Croydon, BHS and Jury’s Inn have already pledged their support to the scheme.

Croydon BID is also in discussions with House of Fraser and Debenhams.

Mr Sims said: “By galvanising direct support from traders, employers and residents alike, we hope people will begin to look at Croydon in a fresh light.

“The Check Out Croydon Loyalty Scheme will help to highlight all that is good about Croydon and demonstrate how, through collaborative working and innovative ideas, the business sector, Council and other agencies are helping to change the town for the better.

“The aim is to pave the way for further investment and future growth.”
