Just back from an acclaimed performance at the Brighton Fringe Festival, Epsom drama students will be putting on an opera classic next month.

The group from Blenheim High School will be performing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s arguably most famous musical, The Phantom of the Opera.

Based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, it tells the story of a striking soprano, Christine Daaé, who becomes the obsession of a mysterious, disfigured musical genius.

Set in Paris, the cast of the opera are haunted by unexplained happenings. Is it coincidence or could it be the phantom? With a young, vibrant cast of over 100 we are taken back to 1905 in Paris.

A theatre spokesman says: "Blenheim Productions uses clever drama devices, rhythmic ensemble movement, dramatic musical numbers accompanied by a live orchestra and stunningly emotive acting.

"It promises to thrill all and keep you on the very edge of your seat."

The students were praised as "bright and dynamic" at Brighton, the largest Arts festival in England, where they performed Metamorphosis by Kafka.
