The main parties have named their candidates for next month’s Beverley ward by-election.

The seat was vacated by former Liberal Democrat Kingston Council leader Derek Osbourne, who resigned after being arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.

Former policeman Terry Paton, a father of two from Portland Avenue, New Malden, will contest the seat for the Conservative Party.

Labour's Marian Freedman and Chris Walker, for the Green Party, have also been chosen to run.

Liberal Democrat candidate Lesley Heap was the first to be announced,

The Beverley by-election will be held on Thursday, July 25.
