More than £100,000 was raised for Woking and Sam Beare Hospices when hundreds took part in the annual midnight walk at Mercedes-Benz World.

Pink was the colour of choice for this year’s walk, with a sea of ladies donning signature owl logo T-shirts, pink tutus, garlands, leg warmers and flashing bunny ears to mark the occasion.

The eight-mile sponsored walk started at Mercedes-Benz World, with 640 women taking to the streets of West Byfleet, New Haw and Brooklands to raise money in memory of loved ones.

Volunteers and marshals helped throughout the night, and passing cars even joined in the fun by beeping their horns in encouragement.

Sue Spencer, fundraising events manager, said: “It’s always a very emotional evening for many taking part, but there’s such a wonderful atmosphere and everyone was still in good spirits when they finished.

“Thank you to Mercedes-Benz World who provided this wonderful venue, and to the other corporate sponsors who supplied the refreshments and goody bags.

“The midnight walk remains the hospices’ largest fundraising event with more than £100,000 pledged on the night.”
