The organisers of Purley Festival have announced a special guest for the weekend finale.

'A Place in the Sun' TV presenter and Dancing on Ice runner-up  Laura Hamilton will be appearing on the main stage in the Rotary Fields, at 3pm on Saturday.

On Sunday, winners of the Purley Sound check will take to the stage. Varsity dance crew, winners of the children's category and Adrian Harrison, who won the adult competition will both perform.

Festival Director Fiona Lipscombe said: "We are thrilled Laura will be supporting us at the festival. There is so much going on at this year's festival and to have the support of a local celebrity is great for us.

"The Purley Sound Check was a great event and we can't wait to see the winners performance on Sunday."

The week long event kicked off on Monday with a performance from Cumnor House Boys' School choir.

The pupils held the ribbon for Mayor of Croydon Councillor Yvette Hopley to cut, before performing 'A Little Spanish Town' and 'Can You Hear Me,' which incorporated sign language.

Mr Sizer, Cumnor House Director of Music said: "The boys performed brilliantly to an appreciative audience of local people and VIPs and thoroughly deserved the cakes they were generously served at the end."
