Candidates have been announced for the Weybridge South by-election due to take place next month.

The by-election, taking place on July 25, will fill the seat left vacant following the resignation of Simon Dodsworth earlier this month.

Three candidates will stand in the by-election, representing the Conservative Party, Liberal Democrats and UKIP.

No Labour Party candidate will stand, despite the Weybridge Labour Party posting on Twitter on June 20 that Martin Lister had been selected as their candidate.

Richard Knight has been announced as the Conservative candidate, Gillian Solway will represent the Liberal Democrats and Ian Lake will stand for UKIP.

Ian Lake has previously represented Weybridge on Surrey County Council but lost his seat to Conservative Christian Mahne in the election on May 2.
