A car hit a bollard and left a trail of engine oil at a roundabout yesterday evening.
Firefighters were called to an oil spill following a traffic accident at Givons Grove roundabout, in Leatherhead, at 6.15pm.
A Leatherhead fire station spokesman said: "A car had hit a bollard just prior to the roundabout, drove off and left oil all down the road."
He said they used oil absorbent pads to soak up the engine oil and spread dry earth on the road to get rid of the remainder and prevent further accidents.
