A new series of a hit TV comedy set and filmed in Sutton High Street is set to air later this month.

Producers of E4 comedy PhoneShop say, after three series, Sutton remains the perfect location to film the show thanks to its "great High Street".

The third series was filmed in Sutton earlier this year and the first episode will be shown at on E4 at 10pm on Thursday, July 25.

The pilot episode of PhoneShop

The show follows the antics of a group of hapless workers in the fictional store PhoneShop and stars Martin Trenaman, of The Inbetweeners, Tom Bennet, of Pulling, and Emma Fryer.

Producers Freemantle media even built a fake shop front which remained in the High Street for several weeks while filming took place. They also set up a makeshift base with make-up trailers, dressing rooms and a canteen in the car park of Sutton Point in Sutton Court Road.

Director Phil Bowker said: "We’re excited for the return of PhoneShop and delighted we’ve been able to film in Sutton again - as always it’s been the perfect location with a little bit of everything we need, including a great high street!"

Tom Bennett, who plays salesman Christopher in the show, said the show is fun to film. He added: "I love it. We have been working with Phil for over five years and we are like a dysfunctional family both in the show and off set."
