The revival of Wandle Park was officially launched amid celebrations in the sunshine on Saturday.
The 123-year-old park recently underwent a £3.5m transformation that includes a number of new and improved facilities including a skate park, bandstand, ball court, open-air gym, pavilion and community garden.
Activities at the Wandle Park Revival event organised by the council, included a sports area, a children's funfair, Punch and Judy show and face painters.
There will also be performances by belly dancers and Croydon Music Service's Rockshop.
Councillor Phil Thomas, cabinet member for highways and environmental services, said: "Wandle Park has been transformed into a fantastic green space.
"The work that’s taken place has rejuvenated the entire area, making the park greener with some brilliant new facilities for families to enjoy."
