A knife-wielding robber is facing jail after admitting a hold-up at a town centre casino.

Daniel Morris, 26, struck at Cashino, in Sutton High Street, as they were using a keypad to enter a restricted area on Friday, June 7.

When a female member of staff told Morris he was not allowed in the area, he produced a large kitchen knife and barged past her before demanding she open the safe.

Morris, of Gladiator Street in Honor Oak, southeast London, scooped coins and notes into his bag before leaving in the direction of Sutton station and getting into a black cab.

But he had not reckoned on being captured on CCTV cameras used by Cashino or Sutton Council, which tracked him from the casino to the taxi rank outside the station and allowed officers to catch and arrest him.

Morris pleaded guilty to robbery, possessing a knife in a public place and three other offences relating to a breach of a restraining order at Croydon Crown Court on June 27.

He will be sentenced at the same court on August 1.
