A fancy dress shop celebrated its reopening with a party almost two years after it was left gutted in the 2011 riots.

Party Superstores, in Lavender Hill, Battersea, was finally able to open its doors to the public again after a major refurbishment.

MP Jane Ellison cut the ribbon at 9.30am on Saturday, followed by a day of entertainment.

A total of £11,321.50 was raised which is being donated to the HEAL kids foundation, a charity ran by shop owner Duncan Mundell.

Since the fire Mr Mundell has been trading from Debenhams in St John's Road, Battersea, and has spent £250,000 on the refurbishment.

He said: "We are really excited to back open again. We want to express our thanks to all of the local people for all of their support they have given us and Debenhams.

"We are very happy to be back in full swing and able to offer the best service we can."

Cupcakes donated from cake companies in the area also helped to raise funds, while illusionist Gee Wizz entertained the crowd.

The money raised will be used to purchase a vehicle for disabled children living in Burma, which will take them to a children's centre for treatment.
