A Liberal Democrat councillor has been suspended by his party's leadership after voting against them in a key vote over sheltered housing in Streatham.
Councillor Clive Bennett, a former mayor of Lambeth, was suspended this morning, the group announced in a statement.
A spokesman said "Following Clive Bennett's policy differences with the local Lib Dems, he has been suspended from the group pending further discussions.
"Liberal Democrats in Lambeth do not support the demolition of sheltered housing in Lambeth."
Coun Bennett, who represents St Leonard's ward, recently supported plans to close and demolish a sheltered housing unit by voting against his own party in the council chamber.
