Andre Moritz's exit from Crystal Palace was one of the most difficult decisions of the Brazilian's career.

A year after joining on a free transfer form Turkish club Mersin İdmanyurdu, the 26-year-old ended his stay in south London in search of regular playing time, something Eagles manager Ian Holloway could not guarantee him when the pair met last Wednesday.

But it was a gut-wrenching choice for Moritz, who lived the dream in getting Palace promoted back to the Premier League.

"It was a good year for me," said the midfielder.

"I took a massive gamble coming to the UK after five years in Turkey, I didn't know what was going to happen.

"I came to Palace when we had played four games and were bottom of the league, but by the time I left we were are in the Premier League.

"It was like a dream to help a club as big as Palace go back up and I wish them all the luck in the world.

"I made some really good friends at the club and that was the main reason I was a bit emotional at going as I was leaving my friends.

"But I am at a time in my life where I will be 27 in August and, for me, the only thing is to play.

"I am getting to my prime now and to be playing every game, week in week out, will be the most important thing for me.

"I know what I am capable of and what I can do so if I can go somewhere where I will be playing all the time it will be better for me."

Moritz is now hopeful of staying in England and expects to sign a deal at another club this week.

"I have a couple of offers in Europe but I would prefer to stay in the UK, so that's where we are focussing now," he said.

"Hopefully, by the weekend, I will have a new club so I can start looking to the future."

Also leaving Selhurst Park is Alex Marrow, who returned to Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old signed on loan from Blackburn in August 2010 but has been dogged by injury since signing permanently six months later - making only seven appearances since February 2011.
