Police are appealing for help to catch two men who tried to grab money from a newsagent's till.

A balaclava-clad man and a man with scarf around his face attempted to steal from the store in Marbles Way, Tadworth, at about 5pm on Thursday, July 4.

The white man wearing the scarf was of medium build. The other man was black, skinny, about 5ft 10ins, in his late 20s or early 30s and wore a high visibility jacket and black leggings.

Detective Constable Jo Clarke, from Surrey Police, said: "I would appeal to anyone who has information on this offence to contact Surrey Police as a matter of urgency as we need to catch those responsible and bring them to justice.

"It is believed the two men were seen loitering in the area outside the parade of shops for some time before the offence so I believe someone will have information which will assist with our investigation."

Reigate and Banstead Safer Neighbourhood Team have been assisting East Surrey CID with their investigation.

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference RB/13/5347, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
