A 21-year-old man was seriously injured in a brutal unprovoked attack in Croydon town centre. 

Police have today appealed for witnesses after the victim suffered face and jaw injuries in the attack, in which he was pounced on by four men in Katharine Street after leaving a bar in the early hours of the morning. 

The assault happened between 1am and 2am on Saturday, June 15.

The victim, from New Addington, who had left Yates's bar in High Street on his own at around 1am. 

He returned home after the attack before being taken hospital by his family.

Police said all four attackers are thought to have been black men, one of whom had a cornrow hairstyle.

Detective Constable Rob Fletcher, of the Metropolitan Police, said: "This was a seemingly unprovoked attack on the victim, which has left him with a broken jaw.

"We believe there may have been witnesses - and specifically a female who may have shouted at the suspects - in the area who might have seen what happened, so we would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us to help us progress with our enquiries."
