Campaigners taped off buildings as part of their protest against plans to build an incinerator in the borough.
Members of Stop the Incinerator hung the tape outside buildings and on street furniture in Hackbridge to raise awareness of plans to build an energy recovery facility in Beddington Lane.
Sutton Council has given planning permission for the plant, which will take non-recyclable waste from Sutton, Croydon, Merton and Kingston and burn it to produce gas and electricity, but campaigners say it will give off harmful fumes.
London Mayor Boris Johnson could still block the plans and campaigners want people to send their objections to him before he makes a decision.
