A new project is giving disadvantaged young people the chance to improve their surroundings.

The Agency, a joint project ran by Battersea Arts Centre and the Contact Theatre in Manchester, is based on an idea which began in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

Youngsters aged 15 to 29 years old from Battersea and Clapham Junction are being invited to come forward with ideas for projects, businesses and events.

The Agency will employ those who are successful to run their own business, with funding of up to £3,000 up for grabs.

All of the ideas must take place within the community, giving young people the chance to become agents of social change.

They will also learn about business, make contacts with new businesses as well as social networks.

Participants must be available on Saturdays, as well as one evening a week, from September 2013.

Anyone interested can apply by writing, tweeting a video or visiting in person. The deadline for applications if August 1.
