More than 140 pupils from special schools around Surrey descended on Tadworth Court to join children from the Children’s Trust for a celebration of sport festival.
Each participating school, including Woodlands School in Leatherhead, was represented by a national flag, from 21 countries, and young torch bearers from the Children’s Trust officially opened the event by lighting a flame.
The aim of the festival, now in its third year, was to give children with disabilities the opportunity to experience and enjoy a variety of sports, including football, hockey, boccia, cricket and rugby.
This year, an additional interactive entertainment of radio-controlled boats, in a specially built temporary pool, proved to be a great hit.
