Churchfields recreation ground in Weybridge has celebrated the opening of a new meadow and special bedding ground.
The new additions were opened to the public on Tuesday, July 9, and the meadow, next to the busy recreation ground, has already become a thriving habitat for wild plants and animals.
The space, carefully cultivated by Elmbridge Council, provides a tranquil corner of the countryside for people to enjoy. The recreation ground has been given new bedding and is based on the design of nine-year-old Ethan, from St Albans Primary School in East Moseley.
Ethan’s design was selected from the 122 entries sent into the Elmbridge flowerbed competition for children in years 3 to 6.
The Churchfield meadows were opened by Councillor Mike Bennison, mayor of Elmbridge, who said: “It is such a fantastic addition to the already wonderful facilities on offer at Churchfields and the new carpet bedding looks absolutely stunning and is a clear reflection of all the young talent we have in the borough.”
