If you fancy some swinging sixties nostalgia then you may want to get yourself to Sanderstead this week.

The Mitre Players are transforming the Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian Association Clubhouse into a sixties night club for their next production, A Slice of Saturday Night.

The show was a smash hit when it originally opened at the King’s Head Theatre in London before transferring to the West End.

The Heather Brothers’ homage to the era of high hemlines, kinky boots, hipster trousers, long fringes and even longer eyelashes is full of sounds that mods would have rocked to.

A live four piece` "combo" under the musical direction of John Chandler, will set the tempo for an evening of nostalgia, laughter and entertainment.

It is the end of the working week at the Club A-Go-Go and the blokes and the birds are on the pull with varying degrees of success.

Director John Harries-Rees says: "It’s funny, fast-moving, loud and brash, with beautifully drawn characters and brilliant pastiches of 1960s music - you’ll think you know the songs but you don’t really."
