A cinema campaign has several top films on show during the summer season.

The David Lean Cinema Campaign is screening a variety of films at Fairfield Halls throughout the summer.

From family classics such as The Wizard of Oz to recent releases such as The Great Gatsby, there are a whole host of movies to cater for all tastes.

Here at Vibe we love supporting our independent cinemas so here is a rundown of the screenings that are taking place in Croydon.

On Friday July 26 at 7pm there will be showing of Stoker, 18, starring Nicola Kidman and Matthew Goode. The film is about a girl called India who becomes infatuated with her uncle.

The film is directed by Chan-wook Park and was released earlier this year.

Hansel and Gretel is the next film to be shown on August 3 at 7pm.

The 15 rated film is a spin on the classic fairytale. Hansel and Gretel are bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world.

The film stars Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner. It is directed by Tommy Wirkola.

In mid August there are a selection of family films on show.

On August 23 and 24 the magical adventure film Epic is being screened. Starring Beyonce Knowles and Amanda Seyfried, the film is about a teenager who finds herself in a magical world.

The Wizard of Oz is being shown on Wednesday August 28, with the latest Oz tale, Oz The Great and the Powerful, being shown on August 29.

The last two films to be shown in the season is the The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio on August 30 and Amour on September 5.
