Croydon’s waste and recycling collections will be an hour earlier than usual this Thursday and Friday.
This is because of the heatwave conditions being predicted for the next day or so.
The council has agreed to let crews start earlier in the day than normal so they are less at risk from the highest midday temperatures.
Residents are asked to make sure they put out their bins and boxes earlier than normal so that they don’t get missed.
A council spokesman said: “The welfare of our contractor’s staff is important to us so we’ve made this decision in their best interests.
"We’re asking residents to put out their bins a bit earlier than usual, but crews will do everything possible to find any that might not have been put out by the time they arrive.”
