Fire crews stopped the blaze from spreading to nearby woodland
Firefighters stopped a large rubbish fire from spreading into woodland in Croydon last night.
Crews from Woodside and New Addington fire stations were called to a large rubbish fire in Oaks Road at 10.26pm on Friday, July 19.
About 20 tonnes of rubbish had been left on the nearby wasteland and had been set alight.
Two appliances were sent to the scene and firefighters used two jets and two hose reels to tackle the blaze.
A firefighter from Woodside fire station said their main concern was to stop the fire from spreading to the woodland, which they were able to do.
The crews left the scene at about 12.30am.
