Homes in a Kingston road have been left without electricity all day.

UK Power Network is still working on fixing the problem in Hawks Road.

Resident Ray Dickinson, 70, said: “It is a bit inconvenient with no electricity. I can’t cook anything. There are three lorries outside sorting it out – it’s obviously a serious thing.”

A spokeswoman from UK Power Network said: “An underground cable fault interrupted power supplies to eight customers in Hawks Road, Kingston, at 6.30am today.

“UK Power Networks engineers have been on site throughout the morning investigating and planning urgent repairs so that supplies can be reconnected.

"We needed to switch off power to a further group of customers at 12.45pm to safely excavate and repair the cable.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and will be restoring all supplies as soon as possible.”
