A motorbike was torched in Wallington in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters believe the motorbike, which was found on fire in Harcourt Road shortly after midnight, had been stolen and set alight.

A crew from Wallington fire station used a hose to put the fire out. Police have been informed.

There was also a fire in Redford Avenue, where a tree and part of a verge was set alight.

Firefighters said the blaze could have been started accidentally by a discarded cigarette.

A crew from Wallington fire station was called to the incident at around 10.30pm.

A spokesman said: "We just used a hose to put it out. It doesn't look like it was started maliciously."
