A new Enterprise Hub aimed at supporting new businesses in West Croydon launched this week.

The £1.5m West Croydon Investment Programme (WCIP) based in Croydon Voluntary Action’s office in London Road, is partly funded by the Mayor of London, as part of the £23m investment package for Croydon following the riots in August 2011.

The hub was officially opened by Deputy Mayor of London for business and enterprise, Kit Malthouse, alongside Croydon cabinet members and councillor Vidhi Mohan and Steve O'Connell.

Six schemes are on offer at the hub, each of which have specific objectives, but together form a solid foundation to promote economic regeneration.

The centre will also offer support to business in the area and there is a special scheme aimed at helping young people set up their own businesses.

Mr Malthouse said: "We are determined to ensure that Croydon’s potential is unleashed, to create jobs and attract investment and that is why the Mayor is spending £23million to improve local facilities including transport links and support enterprise.

"I am delighted to see the fruits of our cash injection through fantastic projects such as this excellent new hub set to provide practical support for entrepreneurial people in the local area.’
