New medical director announced at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust
A consultant surgeon and cancer specialist with 25 years' experience has been announced as the new Medical Director at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust.
Stephen Ebbs, who has 25 years' experience at Croydon University Hospital, is starting in the role next month, taking a year's secondment from his current position as clinical director of core functions and cancer at the Trust.
His appointment follows a recruitment process involving the Medical Director of the NHS Trust Development Authority.
As clinical director Mr Ebbs helped the Trust achieve one of the highest overall ratings in London in the National Cancer Patient Survey 2012.
The Trust is one of only two organisations in London piloting staff and patient experience surveys for the new acute cancer care service.
Mr Ebbs has worked as several hospitals including the Royal Marsden, Kings College Hospital as a lecturer in surgery, prior to his appointment as a General Surgeon at Croydon Health Services.
Mr Ebbs said: "Last year 3,500 Trust staff delivered around one million episodes of care from acute and community services at 18 sites in Croydon.
"I am looking forward to working with colleagues across the Trust, building on recent progress, so that we continue to deliver high quality, compassionate care, which we are proud of and that patients can have confidence in."
