I would like to say that not only was the march to save St Helier Hospital diverted off the main road, but the majority of people in Morden and Mitcham knew nothing about it.
Closure of this hospital would be just as disastrous to us as it will be to the people of Sutton, yet there was no advertising of the march in Morden.
Two thousand marched in the rain, there would have been more had there been notice of it. The Liberal Democrats organised it, the Conservatives were there and many other factions, but where were our Labour councillors? The same lot that saved St Helier Hospital before the May local elections were nowhere. Also, there was nothing in this week's Mitcham and Morden Guardian.
Where was our MP, Ms McDonagh? She was at the Baptist Church in Morden handing out tea and biscuits and discussing immigration - there's not much point taking in more immigrants if we have no hospital to care for them, is there?
