Woman bailed over pensioner's murder at seaside beauty spot
A woman arrested in connection with the death of a Croydon pensioner at a seaside beauty spot has been released on bail.
The 78-year-old woman, who is also from Croydon and known to the victim, has been bailed until October 10.
Police were called to Seven Sisters Country Park at 2.30am on Friday morning after the body of a man believed to be about 70-years-ld was found on a path leading to the sea.
Officers say the couple were believed to have been staying in Brighton.
The identity of the man, who has not yet been formally identified, has not been released and the results of a post-mortem examination of the body carried out on Saturday were inconclusive.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Jon Fanner said: “We are continuing to investigate this tragic incident and are appealing to anyone who was in the country park on Thursday afternoon or evening and may have seen an elderly couple behaving unusually or what would appear to be out of character.
“We also believe they were staying in Brighton so would like to hear from anyone who was on a bus travelling from the city to the Seven Sisters area and who saw an elderly couple get off at this location."
All the car parks at the country park reopened on Saturday.
