In the wake of the Ashley Centre announcing it is fully-let, the man charged with revitalising Epsom’s town centre said he is working to fill the empty shops elsewhere in the town.
Adam Worley, 27, who started as the borough’s business development manager on August 7, said the news that the town’s flagship shopping centre is set to have no empty retails units, once Jones Bootmakers moves in over the coming weeks, is "great news" for the town as well as The Ashley Centre and that it should be used to "draw shoppers into the town".
He said: "It highlights that there is a demand for retail space within Epsom.
"This achievement should be viewed against a background of empty units at similar sites nationwide.
"The Ashley Centre has created a welcoming shopping experience which draws shoppers into the town and significantly benefits the whole area.
"We now need to ensure that the empty units in the town centre are suitable for modern day retailing and my aim is to support property agents and the planning team at Epsom and Ewell Council in filling these".
